ecstatic I am the new Youth Activist Network Southern Regional Coordinator for advocatesforyouth.org!! Yayyyyy!! :-)
I get to try and get colleges, universities, and high schools in the south to advocate/offer/adopt issues associated with emergency contraception (EC), comprehensive sex education, and GLBT rights!
Granted the “southern” states include the friggin bible belt, I’m sure I’ll be able to persuade a few that they can’t “catch the gay,” EC doesn’t kill babies, condoms are a necessity, and yes, dancing is OK. Hehehehe
Just so you have an idea, the states that I’d be targeting are: Texas, Oklahoma, Arkansas, Louisiana, Missouri, Tennessee, Kentucky, Alabama, Georgia, South Carolina, North Carolina, Florida, and not-a-state, but-still…Puerto Rico. This should be fun! :-P

I'm not quite sure of EVERYTHING it entails yet. I know that it's mainly internet-outreach, which isn't too bad. I hope I get to travel! I'm hoping that if I do well enough, they'll let me.I go to the training in September for 5 days. They're flying everyone into DC (I'll metro in) and we're all staying in the Embassy Suites -- going to be a blast! :-)
Who knows, after this one year stint, perhaps I can weasel my way into a paid position there! Then I can hook you up, too! ;-) hehe
